Val di Cogne, Valnontey & Vallone di Valleile

The astounding number of icefalls scattered around Val di Cogne, mark the location undoubtedly as one of the most famous destinations for ice and mixed climbing in Europe. At the northwest corner of Italy, a breath away from the peaks of Mont-Blanc and the Gran Paradiso National Park lies this picturesque valley where climbers pay their tribute every winter.
As soon as the temperature drops below zero, ice axes and crampons appear all over the valley, working on routes of every difficulty and taste. The aspect of the valley favors the good conditions that ice climbing requires. The relief of the area in conjunction with the quick access to the base of a waterfall, assures that there is always something to climb on, regardless of your expertise.

The essence of ice climbing in Cogne includes impressive routes like Pattinagio Artistico, Stella Artice, Repentance and hundreds more, as well as the historic dry tooling routes of Vallone di Valeille. We can start with some ice-climbing techniques or go after the big classics of the valley. There is enough to fill you with countless experiences on this terrain of natural beauty.

After a full day of ice climbing we will indulge in Italian wellness, pizza, pasta & prosecco, then rest and in the morning head out to climb on the next frozen waterfall.
